Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also signifies he has won 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved service.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
